About EverPrep

EverPrep was the brainbean of Juanita Schwalger.

The Why

​Born and raised in Christchurch, she was living in the Wellington during the time of the 2010 and 2011 Christchurch earthquakes, however hailing from the east-side there were 7 extended family homes that were red-zoned, or red-stickered, and we are so thankful that was all that was lost during that time and our heart goes out to those family whose loved ones were killed or injured from those events. She was glad to be a support to her family, a place to come for rest and respite, and witnessed first-hand the stress and impact it had on everyone.

Soon after there were some Wellington earthquakes which affected a modern waterfront building Juanita was working in at that time, and meant 9 months of repairs - only for it to be subsequently pulled down. 

Since then, there has also been the Kaikoura earthquake, Whakaari White Island eruption, Covid-19 pandemic, Cyclone Gabrielle, extensive and severe flooding and wildfire events. Take a look at this list of if you want to take a look at exactly what sort of things you should be preparing for.

Preparing for such events is not crazy, or fearful. It's sensible! You'd think someone crazy not to have insurance for their car, contents or house and being prepared to take care of yourself as you can in an emergency is exactly that - an insurance policy of sorts for the [inevitable] unexpected.
